RIAA
Since music is kind of a MO around these parts I found a blog chronicling the RIAA's assult upon music lovers, which I dont know if you have seen. Its called Recording Industry vs. the People and its a sweet place to find out whats going on with the many cases the RIAA has against individuals. On that note, one of the RIAA's main litigators has stepped down to go to Colorado to practice and now the RIAA is in a bit of a flux. Like the multitude of artists creating a free-music trend hasn't created some commotion over there already.
These Music notes are hitting my inner ear hairs and making them vibrate in happiness
1. Black Moth Super Rainbow = fuzzy vocoder psychdelic trippy electronic rock. I'm in lurve. Their album Dandelion Gum came out a little while ago and they are going on tour to support Flaming Lips.
2. Nine Inch Nails = "The Slip" is pretty awesome and you can download it for free.
3. People Under the Stairs = listen to "Acid Raindrops" its pretty sweet indie-hip hop, you will like it if you like Madvillain, Madlib, or MF Doom. And I do so there you go.
4. Tycho = Anything Scott Hansen does is awesome. He's an artist/design/musician from Sacremento/San Franscisco. Its like the love child of BoardsofCanada and Air. He's got some stuff on iTunes but most of it is sold from his website.
5. New Buffalo = Singer/songwriter Sally Seltmann co-wrote 1234 with Feist and is really awesome on her own. I recommend "Cheer Me Up Thank You"
6. TV on the Radio = Listen to "A Method" from "Return to Cookie Mountain." Their stuff is just awesome.
7. Boards of Canada = The japanese B-side for Campfire Headphase is "Macquarie Ridge" and OMG its amazing, I listen to it on repeat.
8. DJ Mehdi = The "Signatune" Thomas Bangaltier edit is awesome. Mehdi is on Ed Banger like Justice and Uffie and all, makes awesome music, and if married to Fafi. perfect.
9. Todd Rundgren = Seriously. Not only is "Something, Anything?"a classic but "A Wizard A True Star" is an awesome experimental album that gave the world "International Feel" which is amazingks.

What am I listening to?
Listening to your mother moan for more lovin' has gotten old, so I've had to return to my faithful friend who always turns on when I ask it to (unlike your mom, who is old and broken)... my ipod.
This is what has been emanating from the headphones attached to said ipod:
1. ULRICH SCHNAUSS.
PLEASE please please listen to him. Go to his myspace and listen to "Goodbye." Then, somehow find "Shine" and "Monday - Paracetamol" and listen to them on headphones late at night. I'm still shocked/amazed/thankful that I have found music that I can listen to at any time regardless of my mood. This shit is fantastic. It's lush, hazy, sonic ambience that washes over you like warm ocean water during a golden sunset.
2. M83
Similar to Ulrich in terms of 'haziness' and ambience but more pop-structured. Lauren really liked it when I played his new album called Saturdays = Youth. It's got a great retro 80's vibe to it (Lauren said it sounded like something from Pretty in Pink). Listen to "Kim & Jessie" on his myspace.
3. Portishead
Becky, this one is you...I don't know anyone else who is going to love "Machine Gun" as much as we do. Again, just go to the myspace and check it out.
4. Death Cab For Cutie
We all know them but I'm just listing them because I've been obsessed lately and can't WAIT for the new album. I already love the new song.
5. Kate Nash
Same voice as Lily Allen, accent and all! And just as vulgar! And truthful! And relate-able! Rejoice. The only main difference is that she's more acoustic (piano, guitar) whereas Lily is pop (shiny metal beats and cool synthy trumpets). Find "We Get On," pay attention to the lyrics, and then decide what you're going to do to make Kate's day better.
6. Supreme Beings of Leisure
You might like them if you like Goldfrapp, Zero 7, or Morcheeba. Soothing and sexy female vocals gliding over lush electronic backdrops. I think I wrote something on myspace about how you'd expect to hear it in Godiva or Anthropologie. It's very fashionable but I like it.
7. Maria Taylor
Half of the now-defunct band Azure Ray. The things I would do for Azure Ray to re-unite... Anyway, Maria has a very pretty voice and her lyrics are among the best I've ever heard. She's on par with Regina, Tori and Fiona as far as I'm concerned in terms of wit, depth, intellect and intrigue. "A Good Start" is, well, a good place to start if you haven't heard her before.
Ummm I'm also going to check out Boards of Canada and the most recent BT album, both of whom I've tried to listen to but haven't fully appreciated. I know it's inevitable that I fall in love with both artists but I need it to be at the right place in the right time.
