This might be the most exciting news all summer. I mean, I'm definitely looking forward to new Coldplay and Conjure One, but this is Massive effing Attack. Even if they hate the term, they *started* trip-hop. They haven't released anything since 2003's 100th Window which was just...weird. Listenable, enjoyable, but...weird. Now I find out that they are releasing a new album with AMAZING collaborations: Damon Albarn (Gorillaz, Blur), Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins), Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star), Stephanie Dosen, Horace Andy, Tunde Adebimpe (TV on the Radio). There are also rumors of collaborations with Mike Patton (Faith No More), Patti Smith and David Bowie.
Massive played last night in Estonia and their set included the debut of EIGHT new songs. Reading the new info on their messageboard made me giddy and retarded inside. Describing the tracks as "surprisingly chilled out" and "stunningly beautiful" sound very promising.
By the by, Death Cab show last night was effing awesome. Ben Gibbard has a voice like no other. I was spellbound from the very first vocals on Bixby Canyon Bridge.
