It is way too quiet in here, kids... somebody start posting.
Anyway, a few things.
1. I think we should do a collective rant blog about overused clichés and predictable lyrics. For example: If I hear "winter" or "December" used as a metaphor for sadness one more time... I'm over it, and it's actually starting to ruin otherwise good songs for me (Gwen Stefani - Early Winter). Maybe a group rant blog could inject some life back into this thing.
2. Dear Coldplay... just when I think you have settled on one particular sound and could potentially release a truly boring album, you surprise me with Viva La Vida which is one of THE most lush and compelling albums I've heard this year. Holy shit. I'm listening to it for the first time now and I am devoid of feelings because it's so hypnotic. All the feeling is going to flow back through me during the second listen when I'm like... damn, this is awesome. Not only is it well-written and full of new sounds, but it's crossfaded; there are no gaps between tracks. There are interludes and instrumental tracks and... I know it's Coldplay, but there's... variety? Yes! Variety! I loved Coldplay before but now I am coming to respect them more as musicians and not just an awesome moody radio-friendly rock-pop quartet.
3. Do you need to tap into your inner homosexual man for awhile and feel like a club kid? Did you like the overall gay/disco/house sound of Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor album but felt the lyrics were slightly ridiculous? (If you don't like New York, then you can F off/ Just go to Texas, that's where they golf... WTF!) Then might I recommend Kaskade's new album Strobelite Seduction. Holy crap, I think listening to that album finally made me confident in my gayness.
That's all for now. Where did everyone go?
